David H House

of England, AR

November 13, 1926 - November 14, 2015

David Henry House, Jr., 89, of England, Arkansas went to his eternal home on November 14, 2015. He was born on November 13, 1926, to David H. House, Sr. and Carrie Carpenter House and was raised in Sherrill, Arkansas, in a family with six siblings.

He was a member of Landmark Baptist in England since 1977, having previously been a Methodist in his youth. He proudly served in the United States Army during the end of World War II in the Aleutian Islands and during the Korean Conflict from 1950-1953. Upon his return to Arkansas, he worked for McClanahan Electric for over twenty-five years before becoming independently employed as an electrician, repairman, and small business owner. During this time, he also served his community as a city alderman.

After a terminal diagnosis three years ago when given only six months to live, Uncle H's out-of-town nieces began regular weekly visits to ''help lift his spirits.'' However, it soon became obvious that Uncle H was the one who was lifting spirits through his intriguing storytelling regarding his time in the service, his growing-up years with his siblings, his stories of picking cotton, and even his light-hearted pranks. Through God's grace, his wit and mischievous smile endured his entire 89 years. What a priceless gift God gave us!

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of sixty-five years Delores Mayhugh House; his brothers: Otis House and Lloyd House; his sisters: Alma Gibbins, Vernice Gaylor, Betty Dean; his granddaughter: Jessica House and his daughter-in-law Patti Lynn House.

Survivors include his son David H. ''Butch'' House, III (Beverly); grandchildren: Sarah House and Paul House; sister: Chris Newman; and many loving nieces and nephews.
