Maryanne Bates Pence, age 63, of Benton, passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2004. She was born July 6, 1940 in Queens, NY to the late Frank and Bertha Zatecky. She was retired from Teletype/AT&T and was past president of the Telephone Pioneers. She was also a member of Springhill Volunteer Fire Dept.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth Bates, Sr. and a sister, Patricia Lindstrom. She is survived by her husband, Charles Pence of the home; a son, Kenneth Bates, Jr. and wife Julie of Bryant; a daughter, Connie Arends and husband Ross of McLean, VA; sister, Frances Bassolino and husband Tony of Staten Island, NY; sister-in-law, Louise Nelson and brother Gene; her mother-in-law, Winnie Nelson of Benton; her step daughters, Tammy Ray and Paula Stanley; her grandbabies, Kent Bates, Andrew and Corinne Arends, Hannah and Nicole Stanley, and Nicole, Clayton, and Michaela Ray, and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Vigil Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 23, 2004 at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home Chapel (315-4047). Visitation will follow from 7-9 p.m.

Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, April 24, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Benton. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice Center, 6101 St. Vincents Circle, Little Rock, AR 72204.
