Ella Grace Legate Ketcham, age 90, formerly of North Little Rock, passed away on August 29 in Hot Springs. She was born on November 9, 1923 in Lonoke, Arkansas, the fifth of six children born to Jack and Ola Finley Legate. On August 23, 1945 she married the love of her life, E.R. (Buddy) Ketcham. They were married for 65 years until his death in 2011.
Ella was a nurse who began her career at the University of Arkansas Medical Center and later worked in private practice at a North Little Rock dermatology clinic. She was a member of the Arkansas State Medical Assistants Society and served as their President in 1975. She was an active member of Baring Cross Baptist Church for over 50 years.
Ella is survived by her two sons, Mark Ketcham and wife, Becky, of Hot Springs; and Larry Ketcham and wife, Fonda, of Colorado Springs, CO. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Tami Ketcham Wandel of Arcata, CA; Martin Ketcham of Portland, OR; Lauren Ketcham Hug of Colorado Springs; and Andrew Ketcham of Austin, Texas; and by her two great-grandchildren, Xander Hug, and her namesake, Ella Grace Hug. Her brother, Ralph Legate of Conway also survives her.
Memorial services will be at 1:00 on Friday, September 12 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel. Private interment services will be held at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.
