Mr. William "Bill" Bruning, age 88 of Flippin passed away Monday, January 6, 2014 at his residence. He was born September 21, 1925 in Newburg, New York to Otto and Meta Hollberg Bruning. He married Margie L. Hicks on October 21, 1978 in Flippin.

Bill was a career military man serving in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Battle of the Bulge and also the Korean War. After retiring from the Army, Bill bought a large acreage and was an active cattle farmer for many years until he was unable to continue with farming. He loved Holstein cattle and farming in general. He had a green thumb and a passion for beautiful flowers and cactuses. He was a lifetime member of the Arkansas Cattlemen's Association and a member of the VFW.

Bill is survived by his wife, Margie of the home; 3 children: Joe Hicks, Debbie Chism and Rhonda (Tom) Curtis, all of Flippin; 8 grandchildren: JoAnn, Sandy, Angie, Allissa, Billy, Brad, Travis and Brett; 10 great grandchildren and a sister, Hilda Rossell of Bethel, New York; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers.

Visitation will be from 1 until 2 PM Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Roller Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday at Roller Funeral Home with military honors provided by the U.S. Army and the American Legion Post #52. Interment will be private.
