John Abe Clary, age 88, of Lead Hill, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at his home. He was born April 23, 1924, in Lead Hill, the son of Clay and Biffel (Richey) Clary. Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Clary; his sister, Dorothy Austin; and his granddaughter, Katie Clary.
Mr. Clary was a lifetime resident of Lead Hill. He was drafted into the Army during WWII and served as Staff Sergeant in Troop A-122 Calvary in the South Pacific. After returning home, he played baseball and was one of the first guides on the Lead Hill area lake. He married Cleta Coleman on December 27, 1958. He worked as a carpenter. He was very active at Lead Hill School and loved watching his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids play sports.
John is survived by his wife, Cleta Clary, of the home; his sons and daughter-in-law, Abe and Becky Clary of Lead Hill and Dickey Clary of Lead Hill; his brother, Bob Clary, of Lead Hill; four grandchildren, Chastity, Jeremy, David and Will; and three great-grandchildren, Brad, Lily, and Sarah.
John is also survived by his devoted friends, Jean Billups, Judy Villines, Patty Spillman, Dr. Cathy Clary, Keith Alexander, Johnny Brisco; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Thursday, February 28, 2013, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.
Graveside funeral service was March 1, 2013, at Milum Cemetery, Lead Hill, Arkansas, with Jim Villines officiating.
Pallbearers were Jeremy Clary, David Clary, Will Clary, Bo Norman, Billy Clary and George Clary.
