Twila Hopkins

Mrs. Twila Hopkins, age 83, of Overland Park, Kansas, frequent guest to Fairfield Bay, passed away January 12, 2013 in Clinton, Arkansas. She was born August 12, 1929 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Frank and Iva (Lewis) Wooderson. She met her husband Billy Joe Hopkins (of Fair Play, MO) in the registration line at South West Baptist College in Bolivar, Missouri. They were married two years later in Kansas City, and enjoyed 45 years together before he passed. She had been an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Overland Park since returning to the area in 1981.

She is survived by 3 children: Lois (Russ) Sancho, James Hopkins, John (Denise) Hopkins; 4 granddaughters: Michelle (Burke) Kernen, Stephanie, Julie, and Rachael Hopkins; great-grandson: Finneas Kernen; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 5 brothers, and 3 sisters.

Visitation and memorial service will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Overland Park, Kansas on January 28th at 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. respectively, followed by a graveside service at Barren Creek Cemetery in Bolivar, MO at 3:30 p.m. Dr. Carl Garrett, former pastor of Emmanuel will preside for both services.
