Velma Jane Lawyer Maxwell, 84, of Brockwell, Arkansas died Thursday, November 22, 2012 at her home.
She was born February 20, 1928 in Salem, Arkansas the daughter of Fred Lawyer and Ruth White Lawyer.
She taught school in Missouri and Violet Hill. She was also a seamstress and homemaker and even built her own house. She was of the Christian faith.
Velma is survived by two sons, Craig Washburn of Reno, Nevada and Gary Washburn of Brockwell; a brother, Melvin Lawyer of North Powder, Oregon; two sisters, Veda Thrasher and Melba Pitchford , both of Salem, Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Hugh Lawyer; and two sisters, Eva Wilson and Carol Ruggeri.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Oxford Cemetery with Jerry Thrasher officiating.
