Dorothea Nell McClure, 94, of West Helena, Arkansas passed away Thursday, June 2, 2011 in Helena. Mrs. McClure was born September 21, 1916 in Rector, Arkansas to the late Charles Earl Carr and the late Henrietta Melrose Carr. Mrs. McClure was a well-known cook and seamstress and a member of the Twin City Church of Christ.
She is survived by two daughters, Betty Harland of Decatur, Alabama and Clara Williamson (Roland) of Elaine, Arkansas; nine grandchildren, Kathy Harland, Chuck Harland, Billy Deaton, Dottie Litchfield, Johnny Deaton, Dona Bowry, Jimmy Maples, Anita Ott and Amy Perry; fourteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Billy Carr of West Helena and Don Carr (Dot) of Pretoria, South Africa; and a special son-in-law, Lamar Maples.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.P. McClure; her parents; two daughters, Billie Sue (Susie) Deaton and Mary Ann Maples; and a great-grandson, Matthew McMillan.
Services for Dorothea McClure will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Roller-Citizens. Visitation will be held Sunday prior to the service from 1:30 -2:30 p.m. at Roller-Citizens. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena. Brother Curtis Pettie will officiate.
Pallbearers are Chris Perry, John Ott, Adam Ott, Rob Bowry, Christopher Rutherford and James Maples. Honorary pallbearers are Lamar Maples, Jimmy Maples and Roland Williamson.
