Richard Carl Pahlas, age 66, of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, died Friday, January 28, 2011 at his residence.
Richard was born October 27, 1944 in Rockford, Illinois to Harold and Margaret Pahlas. He married Sherry Champion on November 20, 1981 in Vale, Oregon. Richard graduated from West High School in Rockford, Illinois. He was a fourth generation Master Mason on his paternal side, past master of the New Franklin Lodge #350 in Franklin, Arkansas; past city council member of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; past vice president of his local EMS; life member of the V.F.W; member of the American Legion; veteran of Vietnam, and a member of Promise Keepers. He enjoyed all sports and his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Sherry of the home; daughters: Kimberly (Sue) of Florida and Candace of Marion, Arkansas; step-son Clifford (Stephenie) Northrop of Springdale, Arkansas; five grandchildren: Shannon, Anthony, Amberae, Hannah, and Colton; three brothers: Henry (Karen) Pahlas of Boise, Idaho; David (Ann) Pahlas of Decorah, Iowa; Thomas (Kathy) Pahlas of Plainfield, Illinois; sisters: Susan Pahlas of Meridian, Idaho; Janice Pahlas of Blue Springs, Missouri; sister-in-law: Beverly Pahlas (wife of brother John Pahlas) of Beloit, Wisconsin, several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother John Pahlas. He will be missed by many friends and family.
A memorial service will be 11 AM Saturday, March 19, 2011 at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas. Memorials may be made to the family.
