Hubert "Sonny" Grantof Benton, AR

Hubert Dale "Sonny" Grant, age 74, of Benton, Arkansas, passed away Friday morning, August 6, 2010. He was born May 10, 1936, in Tomnolen, Mississippi, to Homer Grant and Annie Mae McCain Grant.
Sonny served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired from Safeway/Harvest Foods. He later worked for the Benton School District and Landers Auto.
He was preceded in death by both his parents; two sisters, Faye Walters and Mildred Cunningham; a brother, Herman Grant; and great-granddaughter, Weslee Faith Mizell.
Sonny is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary (Dot) Cole Grant; children Dr. Rick Grant and his wife Susan of Benton and Connie Moody and her husband Marc of Heber Springs; grandchildren, Melissa Daniel and her husband Brian of Jacksonville, Florida, Amber Bohannan and her husband Brad of Benton, Grant Watts of Russellville, Sarah Mizell and her husband Ben of Benton, Katie Harris and her fiancé Jace Holmes of Heber Springs, Wes Grant of Benton, and Adam Harris of Bryant; and great-grandchildren Laci Bohannan, Mia Daniel, Alex Daniel, Chloe Daniel, Megan Bohannan, and Brayden Watts.
He is also survived by two sisters, Louise Daril and Pat Barnes, and two brothers, Edward Grant and Billy Grant.
Included in his family were Paul and Joan Babbitt and their family, the family of Oscola Wright; and Sonny was blessed to have a lifetime of friends.
In his spare time, Sonny enjoyed spending time on his "farm" with Dog always by his side. Visitation will be Monday evening, August 9, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Benton from 6:00-8:00 P.M. The family will have a private ceremony at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Benton, 211 South Market Street, Benton, Arkansas, 72015, First United Methodist Church of Heber Springs, 1099 W Pine St, Heber Springs, Arkansas 72543, or to Saline Memorial Hospital Hospice House, 23157 Hwy I-30, Bryant, Arkansas, 72022.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of the Saline Memorial Hospice facility for their kindness and care.
