Owen E. Shaw, 95, of Batesville, died Saturday, June 26, 2010 at a Little Rock Hospital.
He was born September 20, 1914 in Bellefonte, Arkansas and was the son of Carl E. and Eula (Brown) Shaw.
Owen was raised in Mount Pleasant, Arkansas, but spent his adult life in Batesville. He taught school for many years and spent the last 20 years of his working life as a district manager for Modern Woodman of America Insurance Company. He was well known and respected for his many hours of community service through many organizations, primarily Kiwanis Club, where he was named Citizen of the Year twice. Owen was a life-long member of Allen Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter: Jacqueline "Sue" Shaw; two brothers: Noel Carl Shaw, Marvin Shaw; and one sister: Edith McClure.
He is survived by his son, Fred G. Shaw of Little Rock; three grandchildren: Greg Shaw, Tim Shaw and Denise Pierce; one niece: Brenda Terral of Little Rock; and one nephew: Mike Shaw of Gainesville, Florida.
Funeral services are at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Allen Chapel Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. Jonathan McEntire and Bro. Hoover Lewis officiating.
Burial will follow the services at Barren Fork Cemetery in Mount Pleasant under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
Pallbearers are Jimmy Cartwright, Austin Carey, Andy Galloway, Rick Hambrick, Charlie Wade and Stephen Bets. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Huckaba, Jim Mitchum, Lee Roll and Odell Shaw.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
