Hazel Christopher, 94, of Batesville died Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Wood-Lawn Nursing Home.
She was born Sunday, January 10, 1915 in Batesville, and was the daughter of Marion Obe and Ada Mae (Hotchkiss) Shirley. Hazel enjoyed reading her bible, cooking and baking cakes for anyone who asked her to. She became a member of Calvary Baptist Church in 1942.
Hazel is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Dorothy and Rufus Johnston of San Antonio, Texas and Shirley and Bobby Wyatt of Batesville, Arkansas; five grandchildren: Tom Johnston of San Antonio, Jim Johnston of Seattle, WA, Pam Wyatt of Baton Rouge, LA, Cindy Martin of Batesville, and Melinda Wyatt of Pensacola, FL; four great-grandchildren: Sydney Johnston, Madison Johnston, Justin Martin and Jason Martin.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Christopher, two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Roller-Crouch Chapel with Bro. Ron Taylor officiating.
Burial will follow the services at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Samuel Farmer, Jimmy Payne, Roy Cartwright, Kinnie Martin, Sterling Wallace and Bob Wyatt. Honorary pallbearer is Van Reynolds.
