Gertrude Downs

Gertrude Downs, 86, of Jonesboro, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Skill Care Nursing Center. She was born in Walnut Ridge on April 11, 1922 to Gus and Minnie Rose Sailor. Mrs. Downs was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.

She leaves behind her daughter, Laquita Smith of Jonesboro; two brothers, Jessie Sailor of Jonesboro and Loral Sailor of Paragould; two sisters, Opal Graham of Liberty, MO and Marcellane Feher of Texarkana; three grandchildren, Miranda Smith, Austin Smith and Trey Smith and a great grandchild, Mollie Reed, all of Jonesboro.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Downs; a daughter, Reba Gay Downs and her parents.

Graveside funeral services and burial will be held Thursday at Herman Cemetery, beginning at 10 a.m. with Winston Burton officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5-6 p.m. at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.
