Marjorie Opal Vance of Little Rock went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, February 3, 2009. She was a long-time resident of Meridian, Mississippi, and lived in retirement in Little Rock with her husband, Jack Vance. Opal was born in 1923, the daughter of James and Rebecca Ezell, and grew up in Union, Mississippi. She and Jack lived and raised their family in Meridian. She loved her family and all her many relations and friends, and was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker. She adored her grandchildren. Opal was an especially supportive church member of Highland and Poplar Springs Methodist churches in Meridian and Asbury Methodist of Little Rock.
Opal was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Jack Vance; her brothers, George, Aubrey, Barto, and sisters, Margaret Olga, Myrtle, and Beatrice.
She is survived by her son, Wayne and his wife, Beth, and daughter, Dana, of Alexandria, Virginia, and by her daughter, Cathy Byars and her husband, Russell, and son, John Connor McInnis, and daughter, Maudie McInnis, of Little Rock.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until funeral service beginning at 12:00 noon Friday, February 6, 2009 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Chapel (501)224-8300 with Reverend David Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
