James Edward Swaim, Jr., of England, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend died on Sep. 7, 2005, at home. He was 72.
James Ed Swaim was born in England, Arkansas, on Nov. 5, 1932, the son of James E. Swaim Sr. and Mary Lillie White Swaim. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Barbara Gean Hudgens Swaim; three sons and daughters-in-law, Edward and Anna Swaim and Christian and Kimberly Swaim, of Little Rock, and Matthew and Leslie Swaim of San Francisco; three grandsons, James, John and Connor Swaim, all of Little Rock; sister, Lyn Swaim Robinson, of Little Rock; sister and brother-in-law, Bill and Betty Ramsey, of North Little Rock; brother-in-law and wife Bill and Vandy Hudgens, of White Hall; and beloved nephews and niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Ann Holland Boyd and nephew, James Randall Holland.
After attending the University of Arkansas, James Ed served in the U.S. Army at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. During his life, he worked as a farmer, for the Little Rock Shade and Blind Co. and Boyd Distributing Co., and the Dept. of Finance and Administration. After retiring, James Ed found great joy being a ''Papa'' to his three young grandsons and serving on the board of the Lonoke County Museum.
Visitation will be held at Roller-England Funeral Home (501 842-3939) on Friday from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. A graveside service will be held at Mulberry Cemetery in England, on Saturday, September 10, at 10:00 A.M., with Rev. Rich Mitchell officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the CARTI Foundation, P.O. Box 55011, Little Rock, AR. 72215; or the Lonoke County Museum, P.O. Box 873, Lonoke, AR. 72086.
