Joe Patterson

of Conway, AR

November 24, 1928 - September 3, 2015

Joe Patterson, 86, of Conway passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 3, 2015. He was born November 24, 1928 in Quitman, Arkansas to the late Andrew and Louella ''Ellie'' Patterson. Mr. Patterson was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Hazel Irene (Parks) Patterson, son Jim Patterson, brothers Darrell Gene Patterson and Henry Leon Patterson.

Joe graduated from Conway High School in 1946. He went to work for Arkansas Electric in North Little Rock in the summer of 1948 where he became friends with L.C. Keathley. Their friendship grew and in 1964, along with his wife Hazel Irene Parks and Beth Keathley they started Keathley-Patterson Electric in North Little Rock. The partnership proved to be a match made in heaven. The business grew and prospered until they sold in 1986. Joe never met a stranger and he loved helping people. Joe was a family man who exemplified the biblical commandment to honor thy father and mother. He always considered his family first. Together Joe and Hazel worked hard to provide for their family.

Survivor s include grandson Christopher Patterson and wife Natalia of Wooster, great grandson Benjamin Clay Patterson of Wooster, sisters Maedean Deremer and husband Herb of Kansas City, Kansas, Hilda Higgs, Lena Martin and Marilyn Battles and husband Ted all of Greenbrier.

Funeral services will be 3pm Sunday, September 6, 2015 in the chapel of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway with Bro. Ed Stephenson officiating. Burial will follow in Copperas Springs Cemetery in Guy. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Gary Wilson, Jerry Odom Jr., Donnie Belote, Michael Lintz, Ron Spradlin, Bill Parks, Mike Rohrer and Byron Dugger. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be L.C. Keathley, Raymond Patterson, Carl Roebuck, John Henry Clay, Al Hiegel, Doyce Gilmore, Fabian Dussex, Herb Deremer and Ted Battles.

Rick and I will greatly miss this man. Several years ago I use to see him at the old Wooster store on my way to work. He would be on his way to feed the cows. He always had kind words to say and was geniunely concerned for my well being and always asked about all our girls.

Rest in peace dear man.

Reading of Joe's death brought back many fond memories of the times we shared when we worked together at Arkansas Electric in Little Rock many years ago. I keep you all in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

CHRISTOPHER & Family:

I just read about your Grandpa on the McNutt website. It is a sad, sad day for both you & me. I have lost a GREAT friend of 31 years, plus!

I have lost one of my mentors which the GOOD LORD has very richly blessed me with over a period of 60 years, last Tuesday 8-25-15. The last several months, I have daily thought of Hazel & Joe & how they were doing since I was able to come by to visit.

Joe did business with my Mom & Dad at Clinton in the late 40's & early 1950's & with me beginning in 1984. He got Daddy & I visiting again after 21+ years of not speaking whereby Daddy & I really enjoyed his last 5 years.

Joe Patterson literally lived up to his masonic obligations & those of scripture, as a man, a spouse, a parent, a grandparent, a close friend, a business associate, & a mentor. I shall er miss Joe & Hazel.

There is no dollar amount that one can place upon a friend like joe......sadly, most people never have friends like I have been so richly blessed with, friends like Joe & Hazel Patterson. They were truly like the song we learned in elementary school. "Make new friends; but, keep the old. One is Silver, the other is Gold". In my case Joe & Hazel were solid Platinum with Hazel also being a beautiful Orchid, a Proverbs 31:10 to End, wife for Joe & Mom to Jim. I regret I never was able to meet or know Jim.

Son, if I can ever help as a big brother, call me day or night.

Your friend always,

All my respect for Mister Joe! i will forever be grateful for the inspirations, and learning experiences that he shared with me about the electrical industry, and that even the smallest customers, could be the ones that count the most.

My prayers for Peace and Serenity.

Joe would always make my day each morning he would stop by the store on his way to the farm. Such a kind and considerate man. Never failed to ask "Can I do anything for you today". Prayers for all the family.
