Robert W. Horton, age 84 of Hot Springs, Arkansas, formerly of Marshall, Arkansas passed from this life on Tuesday, August 25th, 2015 at St. Vincent Hospital in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was born in the community of Canaan, Arkansas on December 6th, 1930 to Andy Horton and Cora (Bailey) Horton.
Robert was a Christian and was baptized at an early age into the Baptist faith. He and his family were charter members of the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Marshall. He graduated from Marshall High School and attended Arkansas Tech College in Russellville. He was in the insurance business in Searcy County and later in the construction business in central Arkansas. Robert enjoyed fishing as often as possible. He also loved watching football and basketball games, especially the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Dallas Cowboys. He always had a positive outlook on life and never met a stranger.
Robert married Mary Parks on January 30th, 1955, and to this union three children were born: Bobby Craig, Debbie, and Nancy. The most important part of his life was his children, whom he loved dearly.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Alva, Chester, Gwen, Rex and L.J. Horton; and sisters: Mary Harness and Wylomae Horton.
He leaves to mourn his passing: son Bobby Craig Horton and wife Linda of Conway; daughters Debbie and husband John Nation of Hot Springs; and Nancy and husband Mike Williams of Hartman; grandchildren: Chrissy Morgan and husband Jamie, Cynthia Traylor and fiance Josh Kersey; great-grandchildren: Jamison Morgan, Maddison Morgan, and Shaylee Kersey; sisters: Irene Webb of Furlow, Emma Rae and husband Edward King of Harrison; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Robert will be 2:00 PM Friday, August 28th, 2015 at Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall with Bro. Donnie Horton officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 PM preceding the service. Burial will be in Canaan Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Charles Session, James Bert McEntire, Jimmy Don Parks, Steve Hartung, Jitter Horton and Woody Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be all nephews and the staff at Quapaw Rehab and Nursing Facility in Hot Springs.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Canaan Cemetery Fund, 841 N. Hwy 333, Marshall, AR 72650.
