Charles E. Bauer of Scranton, Arkansas, passed away after a brief illness at Peachtree Hospice in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, on July 26th, 2015.

He was born in Scranton to his parents Toney and Rose (Fox) Bauer on January 20, 1929. Charles graduated from Subiaco Academy and would go on to serve his country for a time in the United States Air Force.

In his early twenties, he met and later married the love of his life, Alice Hill, of Paris, on November 17th, 1952. Alice passed away on his birthday earlier this year. He would proudly tell anyone who asked that they were married "62 years, 2 months and 3 days at the time of her death."'

Charles and Alice settled on a farm northwest of Scranton and stayed busy raising five children and ran a
farm operation all the while both were employed. Charles spent the majority of his working career at Cloyes Gear, from which he retired after 28 years.

Charles is survived by two sons and their spouses, David and Susie Bauer and Charles A. and Dede Bauer,. All of Scranton, and by three daughters, Susan Johnson and her husband, Mike, and Phyllis Croft and her husband, Larry, all of Scranton and Marilyn Bauer of Springdale. He is also survived by two brothers, John H. Bauer of Scranton and Leonard Bauer of Pierce City, Missouri, and a sister, Betty Lensing of Lake Providence,. Louisiana. Left to cherish his memory are grandchildren: Brian Bauer, Kent Bauer, Stacy Walker, Corey Bauer, Allison Spilman, Michael C. Johnson, Kimberly Gilbert, Jennifer Mills, Nathan Bauer, Ruston Bauer, Devan Bauer, Zac Gunter, Morgan Gunter and Jessica Hampton.

He leaves a legacy in his great-grandchildren: Cole Bauer, Jackson Bauer, Haley Walker, Abigail Spilman, Heiden Spilman, Gabriel Johnson, Malachi Mills, Trinity Mills, Mordecai Mills, Destinee Gilbert, Paetyn Bauer, Palmer Bauer, Parker Bauer and Isabella Beeman.

Charles was devoted to his family, loved gardening and raising cattle, playing slots at the casino and "going to work" on Monday evenings at the Clarksville Knights of Columbus hall. He was an avid Razorback and Cardinal sports fan, enjoying in later years watching the games on TV with the grandkids. A simple pleasure was sitting out on the porch swing with Mom and watching the sun set."Dad"' may not be with us now in this life, but he remains
fondly forever in our hearts and memories.

The family wishes to thank the nursing. staff of 5th Floor West, and ICU at Sparks Hospital including "Stuart, Wilma, Shelly and Audie" for their exceptional care of our dad.

We were so thankful and appreciative that your Dad and Leonard visited Mom here in Lake Providence in the spring. The visit meant so much to all of us and it was fun to catch up and hear great stories. Your Dad and Mom have always been so thoughtful and kind and sent us Christmas cards for so many years. I know you miss them both so much but they are together and with the Lord. Our deepest sympathy. Love, Beth, Wayne, and family

To my cousins,
I am so sorry for your loss and that you have had to endure such suffering this year. When I think of Uncle Charlie and Aunt Alice, a smile comes to my face. They were such kind and gentle people. I always enjoyed visiting your house and will cherish their memory always. I pray you find comfort in your own memories and in each other. Love to you all!
