Leo R. Williams

of Marshall, AR

September 25, 1929 - July 1, 2015

Leo Williams joined his loving wife, Chloe, and his Savior Jesus Christ on July 1, 2015. He loved Searcy County and all its people. His passion was cattle farming and joining his friends at the coffee shop. Leo was a leader in the community, serving many years on the Marshall School Board, the Marshall City Council, the Searcy County Quorum Court, and the Marshall Volunteer Fire Department. He attended the Assembly of God Church and loved the Lord with all his heart.

Leo delighted in his family and will always be remembered for his strong work ethic, his larger than life smile, and for having the unique ability to light up any room with his contagious laughter. For kids in Searcy County who grew up when Leo owned the Exxon service station, he will be remembered for giving away lots of free candy. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Leo was born to Dewey Williams and Elva (Horton) Williams on September 25, 1929. Leo is preceded in death by his mother and father; wife, Chloe (Garrison) Williams; brother Joe Williams; and sister Ruth Vanzandt.

He is survived by his son, David and wife Jane Williams of Hollister, Missouri; daughters, Judy and husband Larry Jolley of Greenbrier, and Sheila and husband Wes Sossamon of Greenbrier; grandchildren, Amber and husband Marc Tilley of Greenbrier, Tasha and husband Andy Taylor of Little Rock, Dusty and wife Jenny Jolley of Conway, Sara and husband Caleb Horton of Greenbrier, Chase and wife Kaylee Sossamon of Jenks, Oklahoma, and Cosby and husband Cody Lasley of Greenbrier; great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Logan Tilley, Carter and Avery Reese Horton, Kaden and Emi Sossamon, Norah Chloe Taylor, and Lily Pearl Lasley; brothers Paul Williams, Tommy Williams, Norman Williams, and Timmy Williams; and sister Linda Pence.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday July 5, 2015 at the Marshall Assembly of God Church on Westwood Drive in Marshall, Arkansas. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday July 5, 2015 also at the Marshall Assembly of God Church. Brother Phillip Clark and Larry Jolley will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Dusty Jolley, Chase Sossamon, Marc Tilley, Andy Taylor, Cody Lasley, and Caleb Horton. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Simpkins and Steven Treadwell.

Hi Judy

It just seems like yesterday that we were running around together. I know I logged several hours at your house enjoying the benefits of your wonderful family. I'm not much on reunions, probably won't even go to our 50th. But I am looking forward to that great Reunion where we can all be together again. May God bless you and your family. Billy

I suppose most of you reading this know I am not on Social Media. I have read the comments posted on Sheila and Tasha's Facebook and been touched by the outpouring of kindness and sweet words.

My Father and Mother were blessed to have such wonderful friends. They experienced difficult times, but we all do; but theirs have ended and they are now in the presence of our Father. We consider that a promotion.

For each of you who ever offered a smile or kind word to them, I thank you. Truly, all we leave behind is our legacy and I pray mine will be as great as theirs. May God bless you all😇

Sheila and family, I'm so sorry for your loss. However I am so thankful that your Mother and Father are reunited. They were so kind. I have missed her being in the deli with him. He cared for her in the same way my Dad cared for my Mother. People would have a happier life if they treated their family with that kind of respect. Praying for you all.

David Judy Sheila and family
Our heart and prayers go out to all of the family and friends.
When I was a young boy I so much looked forward to my visits with Uncle Leo. First thing I always wanted to do when arriving in Marshall was go to the Exxon station to see Chloe & Leo. My fondest memories are working at the station, going to the farm to feed and check cows, going to the sale barn, going to Chloe and Leos house and playing my guitar. Leo always got the biggest kick out of telling the story of me playing as a young kid. I was terrible but it sure made him laugh that infectious laugh we all loved so much. I could go on and on with memorable moments with Leo. He will be deeply missed and his memories cherished for a lifetime.
I Love and Miss each and everyone of you very much and think of you often.
There is a joyous, celebration and reunion in heaven at this time.
Blessings

I just wanted to let the family know that you are in my prayers during this sad time. I thought the world of your dad. I knew both your mom and dad and they were some of the kindest people I have ever know. My thought and prayers are with each of you as you walk through these next few months. I was talking about needing hay for my horse one time and Leo and Chloe heard me and he said oh don't worry about finding some I think I have enough to sale you one. He looked at Chloe and winked and gave that big grin. The next morning I had a bail of hay delivered to my house and when I tried to pay him he refuse to take it. He said that is just what neighbors do for one another. About a week later I came home from work and there was a brand new bail of hay setting there. I know who had done it and again he refused to take any money for. I will miss that kind heart and that big smile of his and I know you all will. I know this is long but I just wanted to share how kind he was to someone that he really didn't know that well at the time. I will always miss setting at the Dogwood and visiting with them but most of all I will miss your mom and dad.

Dear David, Judy, and Sheila,

Just this week I thought of Leo and commented on his kindness to Sheila. He is a precious memory of my childhood in Marshall and my favorite bus driver! I am thinking of you as you grieve for your loss but offering you solace in commending the life your daddy lived. Prayers.
