Howard Thomas Denton of Scranton, Arkansas passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2015 in Russellville, Arkansas. He was born on December 16, 1927 in Scranton, Arkansas to his parents Thomas Welch and Lena Ruth (Garner) Denton. He was a retired contract engineer, a member of the First Baptist Church in Scranton, a Veteran of the United States Navy, a member of the American Legion Post # 258 and the VFW Post # 8383. In his spare time you would find him reading articles or stories about history, bream fishing, playing the guitar, working on guns or building something out of wood.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Lena Denton, four brothers, Forrest, Delmar, Steele and Theron Denton and one sister, Margie Denton.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Bobbie Jean (Sims) Denton of Scranton, three sons; Calvin Denton of Russellville, Arkansas, Steve Denton and wife Wendy of Maumelle, Arkansas, Bryan Denton of Scranton, Arkansas, two daughters; Jan Denton Miller and husband Larry of Hagarville, Arkansas and Belinda Denton Claunch and husband Lee of Greenbrier, Arkansas; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris, Arkansas, under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.
