Levy Rex Harris, age 95, of Harrison, passed away Friday, March 27, 2015, at Highlands of Harrison Tims. He was born Monday, December 15, 1919, in Boone County, Arkansas, to Christopher Columbus and Helen Catherine (Roberts) Harris. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Viva Cecil, Vela McCutcheon, Orpha Guynn and Gail Allen; two brothers, Luster and Lowell Harris; and one grandson, Matthew Gillum.

Mr. Harris was a member of Bellefonte Church of Christ and a lifelong resident of Boone County. He served in the Army during World War II. He later married Velma Lee Reddell December 19, 1947, in Berryville, Arkansas. He was a lifelong cattle and hay farmer, which was a profession he loved. He enjoyed playing basketball in his youth and watching a game anytime. Levy was a simple straight-forward man who was dedicated to family and farm.

Levy is survived by his wife, Velma Lee Harris, of the home; his daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Johnny Gillum, of Tennessee; his son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Junie Harris, of Little Rock; three grandchildren, Doug, Valeria, and Scott Gillum; five great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jordan, Madison, Levy and Cooper Gillum; and his brother, Leonard Harris, of Springfield, Missouri.


Funeral service was Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at Bellefonte Church of Christ, with Ray Crawford Officiating. Visitation was open.

Interment was in Maplewood Cemetery

Pallbearers: Steve Cole, Rex Guynn, Donald Joe Hickman, Billy Joe Roberts, Ronnie Robison and David Young.
