Clarence ''Herbert'' Lucas, 83, of Jonesboro, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2014 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born January 5, 1931 in Marked Tree to Clarence Edwin and Lillie Louise Hicks Lucas. Herbert received a BA in agriculture and animal husbandry. He was a farmer, mechanic and truck driver. He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Imboden. He served in the U.S. Army, was a member of the NRA, and loved hunting and fishing.
Herbert was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Kay Maston Lucas; a son, Clarence Herbert Lucas Jr., of Imboden; three daughters, Lynn (Jim) Grantham of Lufkin TX, Jane (Clayton) Dorris of Manila, and Jean (Mark) Anderson of Blytheville; 11 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5-7 pm Thursday at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro.
Chapel services will be 10 am Friday at Roller-Farmers Union with Rev. John Stoll officiating. Burial will follow at Nettleton Cemetery.
Tim Carter, Clayton Dorris, Alan Gaston, Terry Pope, Richard Lucas and Joe Clark will serve as active pallbearers. Herbert Lucas, Jr., L.B. Aaron, James Rickman and Charles Baker will serve as honorary pallbearers.
I had a thought today of Mr. Lucas and I remembered that I never did sign the guestbook !!! I worked at Stones Pharmacy in Jonesboro Ar for 11 years and had the pleasure of waiting on him and he always made me laugh and we would go on with each other !!! He was a good man and is deeply missed ! I have gotten married an I know he knows this and is happy for me ! So to his Family , I just wanted to let you know that I am so sorry for your loss and you have been in my thoughts and prayers sense the day he left to go see the Good Lord !!! God Bless you all !!!!
