Martha Louise Carlisle, 85, of Little Rock, passed away Friday, August 29, 2014. She was born on December 1, 1928 in Yazoo City, Mississippi, the daughter of Charlie and James Bretherick of Germantown, Tennessee. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed being a homemaker and caring for her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of forty-three years, William Joplin Carlisle; her infant son, Edwin Joplin Carlisle; two sisters and six brothers. She is survived by her son, Joplin Riley Carlisle (Patty) of Cabot, Arkansas; three daughters, Kimberly Ruth Carlisle of Springfield, New Jersey, Kal'e Michelle Carlisle of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Kristala Shannon Carlisle of Monticello, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Katie Spain (Brad), J. Riley Carlisle, Jacob Krupp, Evan Krupp, Shannon Summers (Brandon), Allison Davis, Kristin Taylor (Christopher); three great-grandchildren, Oliver Oneal, Braylon Taylor, and Marley Taylor; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, September 1, 2014 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock, Arkansas (501-791-7400). Interment will follow at 3:00 P.M. at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion, Arkansas. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Sunday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Presbyterian Village, 510 North Brookside Dr., Little Rock, AR 72205.
