Richard Sands 80, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas passed away, Friday, August 29, 2014.

On August 29, 2014, the world lost a special man. An extraordinary husband, father and friend was Richard Allen Sands. A successful business man, he retired as a Human Resource Manager from Sun Oil after 33 years and he and Claudia moved to Fairfield Bay to enjoy their retirement and enjoy it he did! He loved boating on Greers Ferry Lake almost as much as he enjoyed the people who also settled here. He became a member of the FFB Library Board and belonged to the Duplicate Bridge Club.

Dick Sands enjoyed life. he loved his family and staying busy. He fished every season and stocked enough fish in the freezer to last the winter every year. Besides fishing, he played golf and cards. Bridge and poker were his games of choice and while he enjoyed success at the poker table, he was very proud of achieving the rank of Life Master in the Bridge World. One of only 4 people in the Bay to have earned that title. He loved going to tournaments with his good friend Dick Zell.

Dick will long be remembered for his traveling bridge game. He would gather 2 more players and then go to the home of men who were ill but still wanted to play bridge. he began this effort in the late 90's and the last game by this group was played at his home on August 22, 2014.

Richard Sands was born on August 1, 1934 in Chicago, IL. His parents were Hilda Corgan and Joseph Richard Sands. he graduated from Michigan State with a B.A. in 1956. He and his first wife, Doris Rendel, had 5 children: Richard Sands (Gloria) of Goldsberg, N.C., John Sans of Novi, MI., Susan Cleary (Jim) of New Mexico, Gary Sands of Livonia, MI. and Laurie Lemanski (Ken) of Westland, MI.

Your loved one who is asleep in the dust of the earth will awaken. (Daniel 12:2) They will arise and shout joyfully. (Isaiah 26:19) The Bible repeatedly speaks about the elimination of death and God's promise of everlasting life. The resurrections performed by Jesus offered clear proof that God gave Jesus power over death. In fact, the Bible says that Jesus now possesses the keys of death (Rev. 1:18) God's will is to resurrect the dead. (Acts 24:15) When that day arrives, death will truly be brought to nothing. Never again will it bring so much pain to mankind (1Cor. 15:26)
