January 26, 1924 - August 23, 2014

Mrs. Betty Jane Wilson, 90 of Clarksville, passed away at Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville on August 23rd after a brief illness. She was born to Elmer G and Lena (Killough) Smith in Lamar, Arkansas on January 26, 1924.
She was a 1946 graduate of the University of Arkansas where she was
a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. She was a retired school
teacher. After leaving Arkansas, she resided in Cleveland, Tennessee
and Little Rock before moving to Clarksville in 2011. She was a
member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Little Rock. She was an
accomplished musician playing the organ and piano, a bird
watcher keeping tabs on the cardinals and the martins, and an animal
lover with cats being her favorite.
She was married to Clarence A. Wilson in 1947. She is preceded in
death by her husband and infant son, her parents, and her brother
E.G. (Noonie) Smith. She is survived by niece C.J. Smith of Benton,
nephew Grant (Penny) Smith of Fayetteville, and nephew John Allen
(Geneva) Smith of Clarksville. She is also survived by great-niece Liz
(Josh) Bruns and their children Hendrix and Hudson of Fayetteville,
great-nephew Dr. Jevin Smith of Conway; sister-in-law Joyce
Marler of Simi Valley, California and her family.
Visitation will be open at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Mrs. Wilson's graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Oakland cemetery with Dr. Darrell Bridges officiating.

Betty Jane and I were high
school friends and classmates together at Lamar. Noonie was a good friend of my brother. My condolences to the family.

obit in newspaper today .
I am a member of Delta Gamma and a member of the Apha Omega Chapter 1960 University of Arkansas/Fayetteville.
May she rest in peace.
