Marie Elizabeth Hensley, age 83, of Searcy, Arkansas, formerly of Poplar Grove, Arkansas passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Searcy. Mrs. Hensley was born September 8, 1930 at Trenton , Arkansas to the late Curtis Smith and the late Elizabeth Hinson Smith. She worked as a seamstress for Bobby Brooks Garment Company and was a member of Second Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, Gary Hensley (Pam) of Conway, Arkansas; three daughters, Vicky Savage (Michael) of Poplar Grove, Brenda Leach (Jim) of Bedford, Texas and Laverne Odoneell of Batesville , Arkansas; ten grandchildren and thirteen great- grandchildren; a daughter-in-law Virgina Hensley; two sisters, Mary Francis Hedren (Carl) and Nina Kovesdi (Dr. John); and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lee Otto Hensley; one son, Pete Hensley; three sisters, Earlene Ickler , Shirley McGarvey and Linda Smith; two brothers, Thomas Smith and Jimmy Lee Smith; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service for Marie Hensley will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 4, 2014 at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena. Reverend Rodger Hooker will officiate.
Service will be directed by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, West Helena, (870) 572-2571.
