Viene Johnson, 76, of Benton, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on January 26, 2014. She was born March 24, 1938 in Benton, Arkansas to the late Lawrence Edward Tatum and May Pearl Bryan Tatum. She was a lifetime member of New Friendship Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Deborah Ballard; two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by a son, Ricky Johnson (Melissa) of Benton; daughter, Janet Mashburn (Albert) of Benton; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sister, Susie Rankin of Oklahoma.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at New Friendship Cemetery in Benton, Arkansas with Bro. Tyler Askew officiating.
Family will receive friends from 6:00- 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home, 306 S. Main St., Benton, Arkansas (501) 315-4047.
I remember your family as such a fun loving group. My grandparents lived nearby and went to New Friendship Church. My prayers are for comfort and peace. Lisa Bridges

Janet, just read of the passing of your mother and am sorry for your loss.
I know it has been a very tiring experience for you and hope you know she is in a better place.
I met this sweet lady while visiting at the nursing home.also sang with a gospel band there. She loved singing along with us. A pretty lady and a christian. Will miss seeing her there nect visit.
My sisters and I got to know Mrs. Viene at MNH through visiting with our dad, Roland Gillespie. She was a very dear and caring person. She and daddy had become great friends and I know he will miss her greatly. I am sorry for your loss.
I went to school with viene and we became friends and we ran around together and she was a very sweet person. I didn't know she that ill , I know she will be missed by her family and everyone that knew her"
I got to know Ms. Johnson through visiting my Dad, Roland Gillespie, at Malvern Nursing Home. She was one of the sweetest, nicest ladies I have ever met. She was a great friend to my Dad and he and our entire family will miss her greatly. Heaven really did welcome a angel on Sunday! Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.
