I write to honor the memory of a dear lady. Our families go back to 1918 when my parents married and lived in the same house wit Lawson and Eula. During my elementary school days I helped Irene in the church office on Saturday mornings. I folded bulletins, put the envelopes and pencils in the pews, and stapled the bulletins for mailing. She paid me 25 cents which bought movie tickets to two theaters and a bag of pop corn. When we left Paris in 1948, I cried when I left the church on that last Saturday morning. Over the years we stayed in touch when my parents visited Paris. Over the years, she heard me preach at First Baptist Church in 1958. She was so supportive at my parents' funerals and interments at Paris. Our last good visit came in 1997 when we buried my mother. Martha and I went to her home and spent some time with her before the funeral. She sat with the family at the cemetery which was very appropriate. She is dearly beloved. You have our deepest sympathy.

David and Family:
It has been a priveledge and honor to live next door to"MS.IRENE" she was adopted into my family then. She has been there for me during all my troubles from. losing my little girl, Daddy, and Grandma and we was there for her. That beautiful little laugh she had to the understanding words of wisdom she would give. She was inspiration to anyone she met. MS. IRENE won't have to worry about her roses in the front yard we will see that they get watered. She may be gone, but we still have our memories of her. Gone but never forgotten! Love you MS. IRENE

I was sad to hear of Ms Irene's passing. She was such a sweet person. I have many memories of her and Ms Pauline, always together, attending church at FBC, dining out, shopping at Wal-Mart. She was a gracious, wonderful lady who will be greatly missed, not only by her family, but by everyone in Paris who knew her. May God Bless you & comfort you in your loss.

I would like to give each you a big hug!! Miss Irene was a true Southern lady!!!! I did't know her for a lot of years; but, once we met she never forgot my name. She was always so nice and caring. Took time for everyone and was always so grateful for all acts of kindness. Wish our world was filled with ladies like her. I know you will miss her and we will always remember her! God Bless your family!
