Mary Elizabeth Shields, 60, of Paragould, formerly of Osceola, died Tuesday, September 25, 2012. Born Saturday, December 29, 1951 in Osceola to James and Doris Julian, she was a homemaker for thirty years until she became a receptionist for Bancorp South. She was a graduate of Osceola High School, attended Little River Church of Christ and was a Cub Scout Den Mother for several years where she became very close friends with Charles and Barbara Williams.
Survivors include her husband of forty three years, Barry Wayne Shields of Paragould; two sons, Jimmy (Hope) Shields of Pocahontas and Rusty Shields of Bloomington, Indiana; two daughters, Christy Shields of Paragould and Amy (Andy) Stanton of Conway; eleven grandchildren: Donnie Ruple, Chad Ruple, Destiny Ruple, Hayley Shields, Chelsea Shields Pruett, Tyler McLemore, Laci McLemore, Emily McLemore, Celena Stanton, Tommy Stanton and Jackson Stanton; great-grandson, Jonathon Shields; mother, Doris Julian of Paragould and aunt, Verna Harrison. She is preceded in death by her father.

I knew Mary from the fifth grade on. Every memory I have of Mary is of her kindness and concern for other people. Barry and family, my heart goes out to you. The world has lost such a good person, but heaven has certainly gained an angel.

Mary was the sweetest, most pleasant ladies I knew. She never had an unkind word. It was such a shock to hear of her passing. Mary will be missed by so many. Head 2 Toe salon girls will never forget her. May God send comfort and peace to all of her family and friends.
