Daniel Webster Hickman Jr. 86, of North Little Rock, AR passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012. He was born in Little Rock on June 1, 1925. Preceding him in death, parents Daniel Webster Hickman Sr. and Augusta Shelton Hickman; sisters, Marjorie Hickman Friday and Janice Hickman Dodd.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years Myna (Peachie) Hickman; son, H. Gene Hickman and daughter, Susan Hickman Knottek of Springfield, Missouri. His grandchildren Jeremy Alan Knottek and Justin Taylor Knottek of Springfield, Missouri, Luke Hickman and Riley Hickman; and his beloved dog Kirby; his niece Becky Friday and nephew Bill Friday and many friends.
Dan was a longtime member of the North Little Rock Methodist Church. He graduated from Hendrix College of Conway with a LLB and P.A. degree in Law from Arkansas Law School. Dan enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp, 1942 attended A&M College of Engineering under U.S. Naval Radio training program, graduated 1943. He served overseas in the Southwest Pacific and Philippine areas of operation in WWII awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in action 1944. Received honorable discharge October 1945 with the rank of Sergeant.
Dan worked with John Haskins Law Firm and with Lowber Hendrix Law Firm for many years. Dan was a 33 Degree Mason and the Scimitar Shrine Temple.
Dan enjoyed many years with his family at Lake Ouachita , his passion for the lake and his boats were his joy.
Many thanks to the wonderful loving staff at the VA Hospital in North Little Rock for their loving care of our husband and father.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Arkansas State Veterans' Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday at Roller-Owens Funeral Home (501-791-7400) 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd. North Little Rock, AR 72116.

I am RN on 1E at VA Hospital who helped care for Mr. Hickman for the last year. He was a uniique person and always pleasant. It was an honor to help care for him.
