Hettie Houchin, age 70, of Paragould, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born June 13, 1941 at Grenada, MS to David and Velma Malone McKenzie. Mrs. Houchin was a homemaker and a member of the Finch Baptist Church. She loved crafts, reading, playing games and cards.
Mrs. Houchin was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Beuron McKenzie.
Survivors include her husband, Leo Houchin; three daughters, Vicky Hickman, St. Louis, MO, Carolyn Russell, Enid, OK, and Donna Kirby, Paragould; eight grandchildren, Brandon and Jeff Hickman, Brittany Mathis, Justin Ward, Sarah Russell, Meghan Russell, Brandi Sparks and Hunter Bowers; three great grandchildren; five brothers, John McKenzie, Buford McKenzie, Burl McKenzie, Gerald McKenzie, and Bob McKenzie; and three sisters, Eva McKenzie, Norma Kirk, and Janie Bassham.
Visitation will be Saturday from 5-7 pm at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 W. Washington Avenue in Jonesboro.
Funeral services will be 2 pm Sunday at the Finch Baptist Church with Bro. Terry Gage officiating. Burial will follow at Marked Tree Cemetery.
Brandon Hickman will serve as honorary pallbearer.
We send our deepest sympathy to Leo and all the family. We were blessed to have known Hettie. She was a very special lady, beautiful through and through. She leaves us all with wonderful memories of her genuine sweet nature and loving compassion for others. Leo and all the family are in our thoughts and prayers.
