Delena (Wilson) Loveless

of Little Rock, AR

December 29, 1927 - September 6, 2008

Delena (Wilson) Loveless, 80, of Little Rock, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 6, 2008. She was born to the late Joe and Ethel Wilson of Dover, Arkansas on December 29, 1927.

Delena is survived by her devoted husband, Cecil Loveless; her loving sister, Evelyn Wilson; sons Robert, and his wife Kathy of Little Rock, and Larry, and his wife Kimberly of Fredericksburg, Virginia; grandson Jacob, and his wife Kelly and granddaughter Rebecca, both of New York; and a host of beloved friends.

Delena devoted her early years to raising her family. She later went to work for the State Board of Nursing from which she retired after 19 years. She was loved and respected for her generosity, sincerity, her wit and strength of character and her devotion to family and church, Immanuel Baptist, where she was a long-time member.

Delena was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who always put family first. She enjoyed cooking, sharing time with her friends and family and church activities. Gina and Mark Eyerman, Charles and Fern Jamison, Loree Olinghouse and Louise Vanzandt were but a few of the many beloved members of her extended family.

The family wishes to thank the many wonderful caregivers of Arkansas Hospice and especially Terrie Lynn for their kindness, devotion and compassionate care during these difficult times.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 10, 2008, at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, (501)224-8300. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, 501 N. Shackleford Road, Little Rock, Arkansas 72211, or to Arkansas Hospice, 5600 West 12th Street, Little Rock, Arkansas 72204.

Delena was my assistant at the board of nursing for many years. She was a consummate professional and a perfectionist. I never had to worry that any documents going out of our offices would be anything less than perfect. We all will miss her very much.

Cecil and Evelyn, I was so sorry to read about Delena passing. My thoughts immediately went to all of those who have gone before and were waiting for her. I know she is at peace and is the beautiful and kind person she was during the time I knew her. May God bless and comfort each of you as you go through the days to come.

Mr. Loveless, please know that I mourn your loss, but celebrate the knowledge that your dear wife has been greeted with the open and loving arms of our Lord. I am sure He welcomed her home with "well done my blessed child."

I am a friend of your son, Bob, and his wife, Kathy. I have had a wonderful experience with AR Hospice during the last 2 years of my grandmother's life and I will make a loving donation in memory of your wife.

God's Blessing,
Dennis and Patty Robins

Dear Cecil, Bobby , Larry and Evelyn, I am so sad and feel sooo far away right now. I would love to hug each of your necks and give you my condolences in person, but I could not get these 2 days off.(I tried) I have sooo many wonderful memories about Delena and y'all's house. I have wandered back to those days in my mind a lot these past few weeks. I think of the smells of y'alls house...the sweet cut grass, the great food cooking (even at lunch time) in the kitchen, the pretty perfume Delena wore. I think of Pepper (another devoted and wonderful mother) and funny Thomas Henderson Edward Cat(my cats best friend)Delena was always soooo sweet to me. I have the best memories of her kind smile and her wonderful laugh. Oh what a great laugh!!! She could tell the best stories and they usually pointed out a pretty good lesson. She loved the Lord, she loved her husband and her handsome boys, she adored her sweet sister and she was a treasured friend. She was also "another mother" to me. She took such good care of me when I was little and she continued to care all these many years and I will always remember her with great love. Please know there is no place I'd rather be than with y'all right now. I love you Cecil, Bobby, Larry and Evelyn...Love, Valerie
