He was born August 10, 1951 in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of Robert Joshua Hughes, Sr. and Lois Elizabeth Bedell Hughes.

He was a CPA of Hughes, Welch and Milligan LTD.  He was a respected businessman and was very proud of his professional career.  He loved his son and family, had a very giving heart, and enjoyed conversations on religion and politics.  He was a pilot, enjoyed scuba diving, the outdoors, riding his Harley, and duck hunting. He believed you should live everyday as if it were your last.

He is survived by his wife, Janetta (Hix) Hughes of the home; sons, Robert Carl Hughes of Jonesboro, and Chad Goff and wife, Kari of Lowell; a daughter, Erika Magar and husband, Brad of Fayetteville; a special little grandson, Logan Goff; and a sister Kathleen Wittmann and husband, Michael of Horseshoe Bend.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in Batesville.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at the Roller-Crouch Funeral Home.
