William P. “Dub” Johnston, age 74, of Conway died Monday, August 28th, 2006.  He was born March 27th, 1932 in Vimy Ridge, Arkansas to William Perry and Verner McKinley Johnston.  Dub was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Cleo Shahan, Dixie Lee Clawitter, Gerald Johnston and Mary Ann Pack.

     He is survived by his loving family, wife of fifty years: Maybeth Deese Johnston; two daughters: Karen Nicks and Sheryl Pachosa and her husband James; one son: Lance Johnston and his wife Melissa; four grandchildren: Anne Ryan and Mary Dean Johnston, Alison Kathleen and Zachary Taylor Nicks; two brothers: Edgar E. Johnston and his wife Nita and O.J. Johnston and his wife Dorothy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Arkansas and California including Paul Johnston and his wife Donna.

     He was a member of the class of 1952 at Little Rock Senior (Central) High School where he was on the Wilson’s Tigers football team; a veteran of the U.S. Army and a graduate of the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville.

     A service in Celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 2nd, 2006 at First Presbyterian Church, 2400 Prince St., Conway, AR. 72034 (501.329.6483) officiated by Rev. Barry Williams.  Rev. Ken Upham will conduct a private family graveside service.  In lieu of flowers please make memorials to: First Presbyterian Church Building Fund or Young Life, P.O. Box 551, Conway, AR. 72033.
