Evangelist Dr. Russell Jack Parchman

of Little Rock, AR

July 24, 1923 - December 24, 2005

EVANGELIST DR RUSSELL JACK PARCHMAN, 82, of Little Rock, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 24, 2005. Jack was a faithful and humble servant of the Lord, preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ for 55 years. After pastoring Baptist churches in Arkansas and Texas for more than a decade, he was called to full- time evangelism in 1963 and preached throughout the United States and abroad for the next 42 years. Much of Jacks evangelistic ministry took place in old-fashioned tent revivals. Those who had the privilege of hearing him preach will remember not only the substance of his sermons, but also the image of Jacks tall frame, silvery hair, and cowboy boots. Amen?!

Though only the Lord knows the full impact of Jack's ministry, his powerful presentation of the Gospel undoubtedly led thousands upon thousands to the saving grace of Jesus Christ. His ministry will continue through the lives of those influenced by his preaching, as well as through his extensive sermon tape ministry.

A long -time member of Victory Baptist Church in Benton, Jack was a Veteran of the United States Navy having served in World War II.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Joann Horner; stepfather, Hollis Horner, and a wife, Mary Nell Garth Parchman.

Jack is survived by his wife and fellow servant of the Lord, Ann Parchman; four daughters, Donna Pipkins of Redfield, Jackie Greer and her husband, Bud of North Little Rock, Becky Bird and her husband, Bill of Sherwood and Lori Drake and her husband, Pat of Jacksonville; one son, Scotty Bridges and his wife, Debbie of Troy, Montana; two sisters, Tommie Sue Buckley of Mobile, Alabama and Charlene Parchman Frank of South Carolina; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 28th at the Roller-Drummond Funeral Home in Little Rock (501) 455-5800.

Funeral services will be held at Victory Baptist Church, 5386 Highway 67 South in Benton at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, December 29, 2005 with Dr. Ken Graham officiating.

Interment will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Victory Baptist Church Building Fund, 5386 Highway 67 South, Benton, Arkansas 72015.

We are so sorry to hear about Brother Parchman. He baptized both us at Second Baptist Church in West Helena Ar in the early 1960's. When we saw his pictures he still looked almost the same as he did 45 years ago.

Mrs. Ann, I just want you to know that my love and prayers are with you. Losing Brother Parhman has been a very great loss to our family. You both have been such precious friends for so many years. The impact he had on all our our lives has been very great. Two our our daughters and a daughter-in-law were saved as a result of different tent meetings. I know for me personally, some of my most important decisions and committments to the Lord were made during those tent meetings. I owe Brother Parchman a debt I could never pay. I am so glad that I got to see both of you a couple of months ago. I wish I could have seen Terry's face when he saw Brother Jack in Heaven. What a reunion. How he loved your husband. I have to add, that the Devil sure lost a big enemy with Brother Parchman's homegoing. May each of us that have been touched by his ministry continue to carry the torch and stand firm in the Lord as he did and have as great a desire as he did to win the lost. God bless you! Love, Barbara

Bro. Parchman and Ann have been dear friends of ours since 1989. Our children remember well his powerful messages on hell. They first heard Bro. Parchman preach in 1988 in Horseheads, NY, while visiting friends, and came home telling us about this great preacher that we just had to hear. We did get to meet him the following year in Corning and immediately counted them among our friends. Mrs. Parchman, please accept our deepest sympathies and love. We are praying that The Lord will grant you all of His grace you need, as well as the comfort and strength to keep you day by day. You're a special lady. May The Lord hold you close to Himself.

Mr Daddy truly went "Home" for Christmas. I will miss him so much. He didn't get to come home very often and I looked forward to seeing him each time. I was on my way to his house to give him his Christmas present when I got the message he had been taken to the hospital. I know he was a GREAT evangelist and won many souls to the Lord, but he also was "DADDY." I am so honored that God chose him to be my Daddy. I'm so proud of his service to our country. He taught me true patriotism; to stand when the National Athem is played, to put my hand over my heart to say the pledge, to be proud to be an american and support our country. I will miss him but I know where he is and I WILL see him again.

Miss Ann, Our hearts ache to hear that we will never see Bro. Parchman this side of heaven. We considered him one of our best friends. He was truly a spiritual giant. He was a hero of ours. Please know that we are sorry for your loss and the world's loss. The souls that were saved throughout the years that we have had him preach in our church were many, and for that we are thankful. He will be missed by all of our congregation. Many tears have been shed already. We love you Miss Ann and hope to see or talk with you again someday soon. May God bless and comfort you.
