of Griffithville, AR
February 16, 1924 - August 11, 2018
Irene Fern Ellis of Griffithville, Arkansas passed away August 11, 2018 at the age of 94. She was born to the late Everett Critchfield and Jennie Mae Matthews Southard on February 16, 1924. She was married to Wiley ''Elmo'' Ellis for 57 years. Irene was a member of Dogwood United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Ellis was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two sisters and seven brothers.
Irene leaves to cherish her memory four daughters, Betty Caradine of Griffithville, Bonnie (Guy) Bruce of Beebe, Diann Taylor and Kim (Billy) Tripp both of Searcy. She also leaves thirteen grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren along with many other relatives and friends.
Irene's love was to take care of her family and her home. She was often found to be taking care of her grandchildren every chance she got and loved every minute of it. She went to work at International Shoe factory for a time, but could not continue to do that because she wanted to be at home taking care of her family. She loved everything outdoors and was good at it from working in the garden, tending her flowers and making sure the beds were cleaned out to taking a break to go fishing. In all of that the most important thing to Irene was her family and she was proud of them all.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Dogwood United Methodist Church in Griffithville with Visitation scheduled at 1:00 PM prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Daniel Funeral Home.
