Savannah Layne Westover

of Springhill, AR

February 11, 2004 - July 20, 2018

Savannah Layne Westover, 14, of Springhill, went to be with the Lord, Friday July 20, 2018 surrounded by family, her best friend, Penelope Budd, and many more loved ones. She was born February 11, 2004 in Conway, Arkansas. Savannah had rescued over one hundred dogs, seven ducks, and a horse. She dreamed of saving animals and spending her time with them especially her miniature pony, Chief. Savannah wanted to be a Veterinarian and owner of a dog rescue. Savannah had a passion for painting and make-up; she was very artistic. Through her fight, she chose to follow the Lord and was baptized at One Church in Conway. Savannah wishes for everyone who loved her to remain strong, be happy, and look to the Lord. She was preceded in death by her great grandfather.

Savannah is survived by her parents, Richard and Shannon Westover of Springhill, and Jeremy (Ashley) Stratton of Pine Bluff, four sisters, Makayla Stratton, Kamryn Demetre, Madison Stratton, Emberlynn Stratton, four brothers, Tyler Stratton, Bryce Stratton, Austin Westover, Easton Stratton, 9 grandparents, 19 cousins, 6 aunts, 4 uncles, a niece, a nephew, 3 great grandparents, and 1 great great grandfather.

Visitation will be Monday, July 23, 2018 from 6-8PM at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. Funeral Service will begin Tuesday at 10:00AM at One Church in Conway. Burial will follow at East Shady Grove Cemetery in Greenbrier.

Words just don’t seem to be enough to express how horrible this loss must be. No one should ever bury a child. Savanna was such a beautiful energetic young girl and fought a tough battle. But, apparently the Lord needed all of that energetic beauty and she no doubt sits by His side. My thoughts and prayers go out to Shannon and her family. All good people. May God comfort you in the days, weeks and months ahead. Much love.

I would like to express my heartfelt sympathy to the family for the loss of your beautiful young Savannah. I'm sure words cannot convey the heartbreak that your family is feeling over the loss of your precious girl. But I hope that you will find comfort in the words of Jesus at John 5:28,29 where he promised that the day is coming when he is going to resurrect back to life those in the grave. They will be brought back to a perfect paradise earth with no more sickness. (Psalm 37:9-11, 29 , Isaiah 33:24 & Revelation 21:4) Then young Savannah will be able to have the joy of taking care of the animals again. And until that wonderful time, it is just like she is sleeping. (John 11:11-13) May these Bible promises give your family hope and may you draw strength from Jehovah, the God of all Comfort. (2 Corinthians 1:3 ,4)

I was one of Savannah’s classmates. I remember she had the locker next to me and I always enjoyed talking and joking with her. I was so upset to hear of her passing and my family and I continue to pray for her loved ones. I’ll miss you Savannah.

I am Lance Helton’s Mother. He went to school with Savanah since Kindergarten. We recently moved to Louisiana and learned of Savanah’s illness and then her passing. We are both so terribly sad to hear this news. I worked in the cafeteria at Theodore Jones for 3 years while Savanah and Lance was in elementary together. She was the sweetest and happiest girl all the time. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss.

My wife & I did not know Savannah, but we regret the sorrow you feel. We’ve grieved the loss of sons who were a little older than Savannah, and I’m sure it doesn’t feel so right now, but we can tell you that as time passes you will be able to remember more of the good times and dwell less on your loss. We found that each person grieves in a different way and at different times, so we encourage each of you to allow for those differences in your families.
We are of the Christian faith and we dealt with our pain based on our belief that God is still sovereign even when we don’t understand tragedy. May you find comfort as you walk through this “valley of the shadow of death” and may friends share their good memories of Savannah with you.

I had the honor of knowing Savannah and being a small part of her educational journey during her time at Theodore Jones Elementary. She had a smile and personality that lit up the room. One could not help but love her! I have prayed for her and the family and will continue to life the family up in prayer. She was loved and will be missed by many.

Words cannot begin to express the heartfelt sorrow we feel for Savannah's family. She was indeed a warrior, but her battle is over and she is at peace. She gives new meaning to the words in Psalms 23..."The Lord is my shepherd..." We continue to lift you up in our thoughts and prayers that you may feel His comfort.

I have not had the honor of meeting Savannah in person, but we had a few short chats on fb. I found her to be so inspiring and lovely. I was amazed at how happy she appeared in all her pictures and her maturity beyond her years. Such a lovely girl. I also share a common interest with her love for animals and they were truly lucky to have her, they must be missing her as well. Sending love to her friends, as well as my family. Praying for all of you at this time and wishing you peace and love. Love and hugs, Jerrene Westover ( cousin)🌹

I wanted to send my sincere condolences for Savannah’s passing. I was her art teacher at Simon Middle School. Although I was only her art teacher for a couple of years, I really got to see her artistic side and got to know her pretty well as a person. She was a fun, bright, and very creative artist and student. I will miss her dearly.
