Phyllis Gwyn Miles, age 79 of West Helena, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018. Phyllis was born January 31, 1939 in Tupelo Mississippi, a daughter of the late Mable and Theodore McClure. As a result of her mother's passing, Phyllis and her siblings were fortunate to have been accepted into Palmer Home for Children in Columbus Mississippi. Phyllis spoke adoringly of Palmer throughout her life and considered it one her greatest blessings. Phyllis attended the Mississippi University for Women. She was united in marriage to Charles Andrew Miles on May 6, 1961. Phyllis taught kindergarten at the First Presbyterian Church and was the manager of the pro shop for the West Helena golf course at the time of her death. Her greatest joy was her family and her favorite past times were playing scrabble and card games with her amazing friends. She is survived by her son Charles Andrew Miles Jr, granddaughters Jennifer Stover and Michelle Miles, great grandchildren Annison and Tanner Hardwick, her lovely sister Ann Ramsey, and a host of other relatives and friends. Special thanks to her very dear friend Betty Powell; Dale Chisnall, Walter Simpson and members of the West Helena Golf Course, all of whom helped make the last years of her life possible and more enjoyable. Visitation will be held at Roller-Citizens Chapel 9:00-10:00 A. M. Saturday, July 28 followed by a 10:00 A. M. memorial service at West Helena Methodist Church. A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 pm on July 28 at the West Helena Golf Course. Mrs Miles I was fortunate to enjoy you as a teacher many years ago and so were so many more. Thank you, you will be greatly missed.

I am SO sad after reading in today's local newspaper about Phyllis' death. Unfortunately, I had not talked to her in recent months because of my current situation and I grieve over this. I send my sincere sympathy to each Family member. Phyllis, was a school Friend, in Columbus, Mississippi.
