Mary Elizabeth Chism 79, of West Memphis, Arkansas passed away on Friday, July 5, 2018 at her home. She was born on March 28, 1939 to Melvin and Nora Belle Cooper in Florence, Alabama.

She was one of the most charming individuals ever known by her family and friends. During her free time, you could either find her gardening, cleaning or cooking some of her best dishes from scratch. She had a huge heart caring for people and her favorite kind of animal, dogs. Her legacy will forever be cherished in the hearts of her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Chism of West Memphis, Arkansas; one daughter, Rhonda Diane Griffith of West Memphis, Arkansas; two sons, Barry Ray Griffith of Bartlett, Tennessee and Tony Elvin Griffith of West Memphis, Arkansas; one sister, Dorothy Hardin of Jonesboro, Arkansas; three brothers, Herman Cooper of Florence, Alabama, James Cooper of Peoria, Illinois, and Julian Cooper of Memphis, Tennessee; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Nora Belle Cooper; one brother, Frank Cooper; one sister, Mavis Burrow; and one grandson, Jacob Benjamin Griffith.

The family is requesting that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Memphis, 699 Oakleaf Office Lane, Memphis, Tennessee 38117.
