Maxine Bracy was my teacher and my friend. She molded and shaped me as a young musician. She provided grace and elegance as an adult role model. There is no measure of the impact she made on my life. She is one of the people outside my family who meant the most to me in high school and her influence continued throughout my life. Blessings to Mrs. Weir, John, Sarah, and all of the other loved ones who celebrate her life today. I will always remember Mrs. Bracy with gratitude and affection.

Mrs. Bracy meant so much to Hoxie Schools, and all of Lawrence County. She was our own Mr. Holland (Mr. Holland's Opus), except on steroids and without the drama! What she did for what was essentially a rural and not very affluent population year in and out was an ongoing miracle.

I had intended to attend the service but an urgent client matter prevents my attendance.

What a lady!!

Mrs. Bracy was a breath of fresh air! Everytime I entered the music room at Hoxie High School, I knew something wonderful was about to happen and it always did! Mrs. Bracy could inspire me to get more done than I realized I could ever do by myself. She told my Dad that I should have some voice lessons. The very next week I was on my way to ASU to start voice lessons. Mrs. Bracy has always held a place in my heart and always will. Rest in Peace Mrs. Bracy and know the Prater Family loved you.

I was one of Mrs. Bracy’s music students at Hoxie and we were fortunate to have Mrs. Bracy as our music teacher for most of our high school years. I can still see her sitting at the piano and playing. I loved participating in the annual Christmas concert, walking between rows of chairs in the cafeteria holding candles and singing, “Once in Royal David’s City...”. She was one of a kind! The world has lost a wonderful woman!!
