Vardry ''Red'' McElroy, age 77 of Marshall, Arkansas departed this life on Friday, March 23rd, 2018 at Highland Court in Marshall with his wife and friends at his bedside. He was born in Harrison, Arkansas on January 28th, 1941 to Vardry and Lena (Young) McElroy.

Red had been a truck driver for 50 years until he retired in 2012. He then began working as a Reserve Deputy for the Searcy County Sheriff's Department. He worked there until his health failed in 2015 and he had to retire. Red was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Johnnie Ruenelle (Bolen) McElroy; his children, Nancy Pasley and husband Mike of Shawnee, Kansas, Roger McElroy and wife MaryAnn of Long Beach, CA and Teresa Ward of Bolivar, MO; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one on the way; two special aunts, Lessie Morrison of St. Joe and Juanita Young of Springdale; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Red is preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.

Funeral services for Red will be 2:00 PM Sunday, March 25th, 2018 at Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Shane Horton and Harley Tuell officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 till 8:00 PM Saturday, March 24th, 2018 in the Chapel. Burial will be in Dongola Cemetery near Marshall, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Joey Pruitt, Aaron Leavins, Marvin Switzer, Steve Simmons, Steve Rooney and Eric Owens.
