January 24, 1919 - February 17, 2018

Lyall ''Bud'' Doll, 99, passed away at Ozark Heath Nursing Center in Clinton, Arkansas, on February 17, 2018. He was born on January 24, 1919 in Decatur, Illinois. Lyall served in the US Navy during World War II. He later worked for the Decatur Signal Army Depot in Decatur, Illinois from 1950-1960. Then in 1960 it closed, and he was transferred to the Sacramento, California Army Depot where he worked until he retired at 70 years of age.
Being self-taught, he played the guitar, banjo, and the mandolin since he was 12 years of age. He had a wonderful sense of humor and never lost it. Everyone who met him loved him and his music. He was a world traveler journeying to places such as Italy, Greece, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii and many other locations. We have his book of his life, his roots book and many pictures of his travels.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Goldia Doll, four sisters; Lola Babe, Miriam Doll, Mildred (Stan) Bornemann, Patricia (Don) Van Scyoc, one brother, Cecil ''Joe'' Doll, grandsons; Terry L. Doll Sr, Stephen D. Willoughby, great-grandson, Harrison Doll, niece, Dixie L. Doll, sons-in-law, Cecil Willoughby and Howard Willoughby, two wives, Rosemary J. Ferguson Crow, Geraldine Foll and his wonderful friend of many years, Ruth DeCampos.
Left to cherish his memory are one son, John R. (Joanie) Doll, Sr., of Argenta, Illinois, two daughters, June Doll Willoughby, her husband Robert Kessler and Linda Doll Willoughby widow of Howard, both of Clinton, grandsons, John Doll, Jr. and Russell Doll of Illinois, Roger (Veeta Garrett) Willoughby of Clinton, Arkansas, granddaughters, Sharon Doll, Benita Doll, widow of Terry Doll, Sr, of Illinois, great-grandchildren, Belinda Doll, Aiden Doll, Terry Doll, Jr, Hannah Doll, Denise Stafford, Seann Smoak Willoughby, Skyler Allen and Misty Brown, great -great grandchildren Alissa Allen, Gunner Brown, Jace Brown, Silas Stafford, Eden Stafford, many nieces, nephews , friends and family too numerous to mention.
Although he had many heartaches, he always had this motto, ''I still believe the good times outweigh the bad.'' His children always tried to have the same motto and loved him dearly. After all, the good times still outweigh the bad, and we will meet you in the morning over there.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to noon on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at the Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Clinton, Arkansas. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Clinton, Arkansas. Interment with military honors will follow at Bluffton Cemetery

How wonderful it was to have had such a special Uncle. We didn't get to see him often, but it was so much fun on those occassions to hear of all of his adventures and share his laughter. His philosophy of not letting the bumps in the road of life get you down is something I will always remember. The world has lost a very special soul and I will miss him.
