I went to work for the ASP on Feb. 1, 1966 and M. L. started with the ASP in August of 66. The day that he reported to District 1, now Troop A, Captain Buck Halsell called me to his office and told me that Trooper Tester would be riding with me until the Auto Shop got his unit ready. I was working the 2pm-midnight shift and told M.L. that we would set up a Safety Check at Highways 161 and 70 in North Little Rock, after Captain Halsell told me to show Trooper Tester an easy way to get OVC's. When we were 10-97, at the location, M.L. leaned over and said, "What in the Hell are OVC's ?" He was a quick learner! Ha We formed a friendship that has lasted for 52 years. For those who are not familiar with ASP Slang-Lang ,OVC's are Officer&Violator Contacts.
