Gwendolyn "Gwen" Marlene Burrow

of Hot Springs, AR

December 10, 1933 - February 2, 2018

Gwendolyn Marlene Burrow, 84, peacefully passed away Friday, February 2, 2018 surrounded by family at her home in Hot Springs, AR. She was born on December 10, 1933 in Garibaldi, OR to Elmer and Margaret Holcomb.

Gwen married John Carroll Burrow on May 3rd, 1953 in Carson City, NV. They were happily married for 57 years. Gwen was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Tull, AR.

Gwen adored a host of hobbies that most notably involved her family and friends. She had a special love of music and cherished singing with the Tull Tones. The Tones consisted of Roberta Davis, Murlene Tull, Sadie Ashcraft, and Jean Carlisle. All were her dearest friends and all shared each other's joys and tears. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and the community life of Tull. She volunteered countless hours to her close-knit home town and rarely passed a chance to lend her kind support. Gwen and John were both blessed with the joys of travel and shared countless adventures with one another. The loves of her life were her children. She happily attended every ballgame, recital, talent show and awards presentation from the time they were born.

Gwen is preceded in death by her husband John; her parents, Homer Holcomb and Gerald and Margaret Gould; and brother Norman Holcomb of Redding, CA.

Gwen is survived by her daughter Monda Lynn Martin (husband Don) of Hot Springs, AR; her son Shawn Wright Burrow (wife Rebecca) of Rogers, AR; her grandson Aaron Reid Barlow (fiancé Kristee Kimble and son Murphy) of Tulsa, OK; former son-in-law Billy Wray Barlow of Hot Springs, AR; sisters Janet Oilar of Fall River Mills, CA; Belva Fulk of Redding, CA; Sharon Sage (husband David) of Redding, CA; and Gail Bowen of Redding, CA. She is also survived by a host of family nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to recognize the staff of Dierksen Hospice and the Atrium at Serenity Point. Both Hot Springs entities provided passionate support and care of Gwen.

A visitation will be held at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home 306 S. Main St. Benton, AR 72015 on Sunday, February 4, 2018 from 1:00 pm '''' 3:00 pm. Aunt Gwennie, my heart is broken, Even though I know you are in a much better, peaceful, and loving place, the void you leave behind in so many peoples lives cannot be expressed by mere words. You have always been so loving, full of life, the meaning of the true classic "Southern Belle". Whenever the family knew Aunt Gwen, Monda, Shawn, and sometimes Uncle John were coming to CA it was a time of excitement, wonderment (ya'll have the cutest southern drawls) and the best of what a true family meant. AS time marched on some of those traditions changed, but your unconditional support, love, genuine caring for your/our family never waivered. I told you many times sometimes a whisper, sometimes flat out loud. "You are my favorite" I also utter those words to Aunt Janet whenever I see here. You have so many nieces, but I always felt the most important. Again, your true loving and kind personality making everyone feel like they were the "favorite". Mom is lost without her buddy, I will try to get her through this, but a huge piece of her heart is missing without her big sister having coffee every morning together via phone. calls. I love you Auntie, until we meet again, sing those sweet melodies, make that famous potato salad with Miracle Whip and know you have made a tremendous impact on my life. RIP,
