of Bauxite, AR

April 17, 1934 - January 20, 2018

Billy Joe Styles, 83, of the Sardis Community in Bauxite, died Saturday, January 20, 2018 at his home with his loved ones present. He was born April 17, 1934 to Joseph Johnson and Mary Elizabeth Patterson Styles in Sardis, Arkansas. He graduated from Bryant High School, served as a Private in the Army while stationed at Fort Lewis in Washington, and retired from Alcoa.

Billy Joe loved the Lord and loved to talk about the Bible or a recently read nonfictional Biblical book or a sermon. He started his day with Billy Graham's article in the paper, followed by the Sports section. Billy Joe was an avid Harding Bison, Arkansas Razorback, and Bryant Hornet fan, and followed most games on the radio. He loved his family and his church family at Northside Church of Christ. He loved hunting mainly because it involved family. Farming was his gift, and he blessed many with the fruits of his labor by supplying produce to church members, to the doctor's office staff, and to family. Furthermore, he shared with the community, by keeping a bed of greens along the road for anyone to pick.

Billy Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Letha Smith Styles; children: Billy (Julie), Eva Lynn Beck (Johnny) of Benton, Jody (Andrea), and Lance all of Sardis; grandchildren: Adam Styles, Amanda (Devon) Baker, Barry (Bekah) Styles, Dawn Styles, Joel Beck, Joshua (Lisa) Styles, Lacey Styles, Lance Styles, Lauren (Brice) Roewe, Morgan Styles, and Noah Styles; great grandchildren: Abbie Styles, Austin Martin, Justin Martin, London Styles, and Luna Styles; siblings; AV ''Bud'' (Dorthy), Sylvia (Bill) Duncan, and Mary (Bob) Wagner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Mary; siblings: Elsie Restum, James Doyle ''JD'', Jocie, Joil, ''Jody'', Infant brother, Leamon, Lucy Nutt, and Tracy; and great-granddaughter Maylea Styles.

Funeral services will be held 3:30 P.M., Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home Chapel with Jim Gardner officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior, from 2:30 P.M. until 3:30 P.M., at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home (501) 315-4047. A private burial will be held at McPherson Cemetery in Sardis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Corin Read Christian Camp, 917 N. East Street, Benton, Arkansas 72015.
