William E Schichtl, 78, of Conway, Arkansas, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2017. He was born September 10, 1938, in Conway to the late George M. and Anna Mae (Halter) Schichtl. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Elizabeth Schichtl; a sister, Anna Mae ''Pete'' and her husband John W. ''Doc'' Hart; a brother, George Joseph Schichtl; sister-in-law, Angel Schichtl; and brother-in-law, Al Duclos.
William worked for 40 years combined service for the Arkansas Gazette and Arkansas Democrat Gazette. He was a former president of the Printers Union. He honorably served in the United States Army and was stationed in the Philippines. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
William is survived by his wife of 21 years, Joy K. Awbrey Schichtl; two sons, Tim Schichtl of Greenwood, Arkansas and Scott Schichtl of Conway; one sister, Della Duclos, and five brothers, Jim (Mary Lou), Tom (Carol), Robert (Shelby), Ed (Shirley) and Butch Schichtl; a sister-in-law, Beth Schichtl; two grandchildren, Hannah Lee and William Michael Schichtl; and brother-in-law, John L. Awbrey.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Conway. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph Columbarium. Rosary will be Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph School Endowment ''Schichtl Family Tuition Assistance Fund,'' P.O. Box 72, Conway, AR 72033.

Oh, Willie, I will miss you. "Well, they often call you Speedo but your real name os Mr Earl" Bet you and I are the only ones who would remember that. When I go, I hope I make it to where you are.
Praying for Joy and the Schichtl family. Willie was an awesome friend and we had many good times with him. We will miss his phone calls,funny jokes , and his great sense of humor. Thank God he is no longer in pain, It's a comfort to know that one day we will see him again.
