Melinda was a fighter, with amazing faith in God through the power of prayer! Even when she was not feeling well at all, she was always encouraging and caring about others! Many times I would be down and she always had something kind and encouraging to say to me! Clyde, what you said about your mom always being worried about others is so true! If I was about to go somewhere she would always tell me to be careful because of the crazy drivers on the road! I just wish I had gotten to know her sooner! I love you my sweet friend!

God, we realize that our goal isn't to get rid of the pain. Life on earth is painful. But life lived in You brings joy and peace. Help us understand what it looks and feels like to have joy and peace even amid our grief. -Amen

Jerry, Kim and Melinda's family,
Melinda was such a sweet and beautiful person who truly cared for everyone. She was that same person from the time she was a little girl. As a friend of LouAnn, I watched her grow into an amazing woman. She blessed me with how strong she was while enduring physical pain and the losses in her life. She is at peace now in the arms of Jesus and with Cookie, Lauren and LouAnn. I'm thankful for having had her in my life. May God bless you with tender memories and peace as you remember her. All my love, Lisa Gentry Basil (MHS '81)

Of all the qualities that God possesses, love is the most dominant one. He loved us so much that he gave his only begotten Son so that we may live. Life is what he purposed, not death. Soon he will swallow up death forever and remove all the things that cause pain and suffering. Until that time may each of you take comfort in him and in each other.
