of Conway, AR
July 16, 1937 - February 28, 2017
Bennett Eugene Huss went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 28, 2017 after a brief illness.
He was born July 16, 1937 to the late Annis and Ira Huss and spent his youth in Marked Tree and Trumann. In 1961, Gene married Nechia Nylah Lockwood of Trumann. They made their home in Trumann and later Helena where they met their best friends, Jim and Polly Bruckner. Gene liked to say that Jim was responsible for bringing his family to Conway-and for that, he was so thankful.
Gene graduated from Arkansas State University with a degree in industrial engineering. He enjoyed a long career and liked to joke that he was the last man out the door when Polyvend closed in 1997. After his retirement, he stayed busy on the golf course and with various consulting jobs.
Gene was a constant source of support for his girls, Gina and Beth, and considered himself to be their biggest cheerleader. He was an avid sports fan but as the father of two girls, his ''sports'' became dance recitals and beauty pageants.
In 2002, Gene married Mable Tarver and happily welcomed her family into his own. But perhaps his greatest joy was the day that Beth's twins were born. Kate and Blair adored their PaPaw and loved spending time with him and Mable.
Gene was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Nechia Huss. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Mable; his daughter Gina Carter (Guy) of Conway; his daughter Beth Bryan (John) of Conway; his granddaughters, Kate and Blair Bryan; his sisters, Delores Dobbins (Billy) of Carbon Hill, AL and Patricia Evans (Danny) of Trumann. Gene is also survived by his step children, Joey Davidson (Andy) of Batesville, Yogi Tarver and Penny Oswalt (Will) both of Jonesboro. Gene cherished time spent with his step grandchildren and their families.
Visitation will be Friday, March 3rd from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, March 4th at 1:00pm at Grace United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

Lulu and I always appreciated your Dad's positive attitude. He was always a pleasure to talk with. I also remember the times that we had at Polyvend back in the 80's. We are so sorry that we have been out of town and unable to express our condolences personally but know that you both are in our thoughts and prayers. Our deepest sympathy, John and Lulu Thompson
