April 16, 1922 - February 19, 2017

Willie M. Smith, 94, of Batesville, formerly of Sulphur Rock, died Sunday, February 19, 2017.

She was born on April 16, 1922 in Pfeiffer, Arkansas to Emmett G. McJunkins and Ruth Jane (Brooks) McJunkins.

During World War II she worked in an aircraft factory in San Diego, California. Willie and her husband Jessie then traveled all over the USA helping to build the freeways. She returned to Batesville in 1963. She then went to work at and retired from White Rodgers. She enjoyed line dancing and quilting.

Willie is survived by her son, Thomas Smith of Macomb, Michigan; daughter-in-law, Eva Smith of San Jose, California; three grandchildren, Pam Gower of Haslett, Michigan, Scott Smith of Macomb, Michigan, and Ronni Smith of San Jose, California; three great-grandchildren, Megan Smith of Macomb, Michigan, Ben Smith of Macomb, Michigan, and Webber Gower of Haslett, Michigan; sister, Chloe Ernestine (McJunkins) Marston of Pritchett, Colorado; three nephews Charles LaFevers (wife, Jill) of Vero Beach, Florida, Bill Baker (wife, Renee) of Aurora, Colorado, and Rick Baker of Fort Smith; five nieces, Betty Carolyn Bonner (husband, Neil) of Chula Vista, California, Lois Rogers (husband, Charles) of Iuka, Mississippi, Jean Rose of Oak Brook, Illinois, Maurine Baker of Fort Smith, Becky VanCampen (husband, Keith) of Pritchett, Colorado.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jessie J. Smith; son, Ron Smith; three brothers, Aubrey McJunkins (wife Bessie Johns), Glenn McJunkins (wife, Helen Krause), and Ralph McJunkins (wife, Eleanor Roberson); brother-in-law, Robert Marston; three sisters, Virginia LaFevers (husband, Luther), Nellie Easterwood (husband, Ian), and Helen Baker (husband, Fallis); four nephews, Bill LaFevers, Aubrey Jr. McJunkins, Ray McJunkins, and Bobby McJunkins; two nieces, Katie Baker and Connie Baker; and one great-niece, Michelle LaFevers.

Pallbearers will be Pam Gower, Ronni Smith, Scott Smith, Tom Smith, Keith VanCampen, and Mitch Shell.

A visitation will be held from 2:00-3:30pm on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the Roller-Crouch Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
