of North Little Rock, AR
December 26, 1922 - February 8, 2017
Leota Henderson, age 94, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born to the late, Charlie and Badie Webster in Sulphur, Oklahoma on December 26, 1922. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, William T. Henderson; one daughter, Barbara Humphries; one brother, Monroe Webster and two sisters, Essa and Irene.
Leota lived in England, Arkansas at the time that she met and quickly fell in love with the love of her life, Thomas. They married and had their first child, Tommy; a year later. Two years after that, came their precious baby girl, Barbara. Leota and Thomas, lived on a farm where life was hard but good. Their love for each other got them through the hard times of a farmer's family life. At the age of 34, Leota found out she was pregnant again with a beautiful baby girl, Brenda. Life on the farm was never dull. Leota, took diligent care of the home and the children. Making all their clothing by hand, she was a talented seamstress. Many who knew her, would say that she was a fashionista before her time. Many years later, after the kids were grown and gone, Thomas decided to retire from the farming life and so Leota, being the helpful and frugal wife/mother that she was, started selling Electro-Lux vacuum cleaners and doing alterations. Several years later, they decided to move from Blakemore to Little Rock. After the passing of her husband, Leota move to North Little Rock, to be near her daughter, Barbara. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock and a Tele-Bible Class member through the church along with her sisters. Leota enjoyed many things in life. All who knew her loved her dearly and will miss her tremendously.
She is survived by her son, Tommy Henderson of North Little Rock; her daughter, Brenda (Jeff) Jeter of Little Rock; grandchildren, Millicent (Phillip) Stanley, Leigh Ann (Derek) Horton, Melinda (Scott) Spakes, Kelly Humphries, Jara (Mitchell) Hill, Jordan (Jessica) Jeter; along with great-grandchildren, Stone Stanley, Evan Horton, Sara Beth Spakes, Ella Grace Horton, Rhett Hill, Hattie Hill and Alexa Jeter; and son-in-law, Kent Humphries.
Funeral Service for Leota Henderson will be at Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock on Friday, February 10 at 11AM with a visitation one hour prior. Interment will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Little Rock at 12:30PM. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock, (501)791-7400. Online guestbook: www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/owens.
So sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in the words spoken at Revelation 21:3,4
(3) "With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. (4)
And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away".
